Scholarships
Many local Hokies have enjoyed our annual social and professional events for years. These events are certainly mainstays of our chapter, but most Hokies attending these functions do not realize that proceeds raised from these events benefit local high school students who have chosen to attend Virginia Tech.
About our scholarships
Each Spring we accept hundreds of applications from graduating high school students from the National Capital Region. Students who meet the minimum SAT and GPA requirements will automatically be notified of their eligibilty to apply for a scholarship. Eligible students will be provided with a username and password to go online to find out more information about our scholarship application process as well as download, complete, and send in their applications.
We have provided over $80,000 in scholarships in the last 7 years
2002-03: 5 @ $2,000 - $10,000
2003-04: 5 @ $2,000 - $10,000
2004-05: 7 @ $2,000 - $14,000
2005-06: 6 @ $2,000 - $12,000
2006-07: 5 @ $2,000 - $10,000
2007-08: 5 @ $2,000 - $10,000
2008-09: 6 @ $3,000 - $18,000
In 2007, we also added an additional $40,000 to our scholarship endowment.
